Kate attended Trooping the Colour, a parade to mark King Charles III’s official birthday, on Saturday, June 15, and was photographed on the Buckingham Palace balcony next to the king.

Paltrow, star of Iron Man and Shakespeare in Love, replied to an official photograph of the Princess of Wales on Instagram by writing: “So happy to see you looking so happy and well.”

She is the latest star to respond supportively to Kate since a hostile social media trend earlier in the year suggested the royal had gone missing.

Kim Kardashian, Andy Cohen and Stephen Colbert were among those to join in that trend before Kate was bounced into revealing her cancer diagnosis on March 22.

That highly emotional video message, in which she discussed how hard she found it to tell her children about here illness, stopped many in their tracks.

Cohen and Colbert were among the famous names to publicly backtrack, alongside ordinary people who had also been posting “where is Kate Middleton?”

At the time of Kate’s cancer video, Paltrow was supportive, writing: “A pillar of grace and strength! Sending love.”

However, her latest post is her first reaction to Kate returning to the public eye for the first time this year.

The princess was seen arriving at Buckingham Palace by car with Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the morning before joining a carriage procession and then appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

It was also the first joint-appearance by the Wales children of 2024, though George and William have been seen together watching soccer.

Kate announced her return on Friday when she wrote: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.
