Kurt Warner believes Patrick Mahomes’ performance against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day might have been the worst of his Kansas City Chiefs’ career, noting the 28-year-old missed reads and throws.
The Chiefs were defeated 20-14 by the Raiders, who entered the game with a 6-8 record, as their offense was completely stifled and they were soundly outperformed by the Nevadan franchise that only managed 265 points in the season, prior to the contest.
Much of that discourse has been directed at their signal caller and star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, who finished with 235 yards on 44 attempts (27 successful) for one touchdown whilst he threw an interception and was sacked four times, in a dismal showing at the Arrowhead Stadium.
“Watched #Chiefs O & could have been worst overall game by this O in Mahomes era [sic],” Warner posted on X. “1st credit #RaidersD who out-coached & out played KC.
“2nd KC was bad everywhere PM2 missed reads & throws, concepts were confusing, got manhandled upfront, etc… it’s getting late ppl!!”
The Chiefs have now lost four of their six games since their Week 10 bye week in a terrible run of form that has prompted a lot of discourse about their ability to retain their status as NFL champions in this 2023/24 season.
They have managed to hold the lead of the AFC West by virtue of the teams below them simply being worse. Their 9-6 record would only be good enough to lead their own division, the AFC South and the NFC South, the latter two by just one win.
