Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie shared a paid advertisement on Friday via Instagram announcing Papa Johns will now have the “Kelce Pizza.” NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, part owner of the fast food chain, seemingly approved of the new menu item despite its weird toppings.
Shaq, 51, reposted the video shared by the Kelces to his personal Instagram account. Jason, 36, was not shy about their favorite pizza including banana peppers.
“Kelce Pizza, anyone?! Papa Johns has officially added our favorite pizza with pepperoni and banana peppers to their menu. Enjoy,” Jason captioned the post.
The pizza shown in the video was half pepperoni, half banana peppers, but Jason then admitted sometimes they get a little “frisky.”
“Sometimes when we’re feeling a little frisky, we’ll do pepperoni on the whole thing and banana peppers on the whole thing,” Jason said. “And we also have some extra garlic sauce, extra ranch sauce.”
Considering that the post was a paid advertisement, a few fans did not believe the Kelces eat Papa Johns, saying they’d likely eat better quality pizza.
Those who know Jason, however, understand that he is just a regular guy. Eating Papa Johns is probably the least “normal” thing in his daily routine.
In fact, the entire ad was packed with off-the-cuff comments about how they enjoy Papa Johns, including buying a separate cheese pizza for their daughters.
Jason and his brother Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, have become two commercial giants over the past year. Papa Johns, meanwhile, needs all the help it can get.
