All New York Knicks fans are thrilled that NBA star Mikal Bridges was just traded to their team for an incredible five first-round picks and Bojan Bogdanovic. That hasn’t happened before in NBA history and people are already starting to make comparisons with arguably the greatest active NFL player at the moment.
NBA insider Andrew Siciliano cameout on Twitter to make the comparison by statingthat Mahomes would be the only NFL player who would be traded for the same amount of first-round picks. Last Tuesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was the one who broke the story that send all Knicks fans into a state of frenesi. To the point where these comparisons are starting to take the trade completely out of proportion.
Although he is extremely talented, Mikal Bridges is currently not really considered amongst the best NBA players in the league. Bridges plays as a shooting guard and a small forward, he is 27 years old and he has only played for two NBA teams in the past, Last year, he was famously included in the sensational trade for Kevin Durant and arrived to the Brooklyn Nets. But the problem is that he hasn’t lived up to the expectations around him. That didn’t stop folks like Stephen A. Smith to celebrate Bridges’ arrival. He analyzed the new arrival and seemed hopeful for what could come for the NewYork Knicks next season.
But comparing Mikal Bridges to Patrick Mahomes is a little disproportionate, except maybe by New York Knicks fans’ standards. In previous occassions, Mahomes himself has stated he would play similar to Stephen Curry if he ever played in the NBA. Bridges has a lot to prove coming to the New York Knicks, especially if he cares about these outrageous comparisons with the best active quarterback in the league today. The best possible way for him to go is if he just focused on his game without thinking about any of the outside noise that is being created with his trade.
