The proud mom shared with PEOPLE her initial reaction to watching her son Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs team clinch a Super Bowl-deciding victory against the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 28, while also revealing the first thing she told him on the field after the game.
“I just looked at him and I said, ‘You were possessed,’ ” Donna recalls telling Travis on the gridiron at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore upon winning the AFC Championship for the second-consecutive year.
“It was just the most amazing feats I’ve ever seen him accomplish,” says Donna while speaking about her latest collaboration with Barefoot Wine. “He was on a mission… a mission to make sure that they won this game.”
But it wasn’t Travis alone, Donna makes sure to note, pointing out his Chiefs teammates who all contributed to the winning efforts that have the reigning champs headed to Las Vegas to defend their Super Bowl title.
“Everything just fit into place. It all worked well and I was amazed at how they could all come together like that,” says Donna. Travis said on his New Heights podcast that playing in the championship game for the fourth time in five years “means a little bit more.”
Donna agrees, telling PEOPLE, “It’s so difficult to get there and to be able to get there two times in a row, this was very special.”
Plus, she adds it was also special “to be able to be with my other son [Jason, of the Philadelphia Eagles] to watch the game.”
It was an experience that the mom of two NFL stars says “doesn’t happen” very often due to her sons’ respective football schedules.
“So for me to be able to watch with him while we’re watching with his brother was a once in a lifetime occurrence… This was amazing,” shares Donna, adding that both her sons “have accomplished much more than [she] could have ever dreamed.”
In addition to watching Travis alongside Jason, Donna cheered him on from the box alongside his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. She also gave PEOPLE an exclusive glimpse inside their fun-filled suite!
“The camaraderie of everyone in the suite” and “making sure that you’re enjoying the time that you’re there” is what Donna says is “the majority” of what they’re doing while watching the game.
And of course, Donna says that Barefoot Wine — the official wine sponsor of the NFL and Super Bowl LVIII — is “for sure” an ask she requests for the suite. She says that Travis and Jason are also fans of the brand, noting that “they do like a good wine on occasion.”
For her latest collaboration with Barefoot Wine, Donna’s “offering a playbook to help new fans with their first Super Bowl party.” Launching on Feb. 5, seasoned game day pro is giving “bandwagon fans” a play-by-play on how to host their first-ever Super Bowl party.
